Shannon is a small town in the Horowhenua District just 20 minutes south of Palmerston North. As it’s located on SH57 one of the main routes between Manawatu and Horowhenua, it’s also a popular stop off place for travelers. The Mangahoe power station, one of NZ’s smallest is located nearby. Shannon is also home to a couple of interesting boutique and gift shops if you are looking to browse while taking a break.
