Lower North Island NZ

With distinctive landscapes, cultural diversity and friendly small & larger town centres the Lower North Island is a great place to live and visit. Lying at the lower half of the North Island of New Zealand roughly between Waikato and Wellington the area is made of a number of independent regions including Manawatu, Whanganui, Rangitikei, Tararua, Horowhenua and Ruapehu with Taranaki to the west and Hawke’s Bay to the east.  The SH1, SH2 and SH3 state highways and various scenic routes connect the regions and you will find some beautiful and interesting places en route.
