Central Hawke's BayCentral Hawke’s Bay runs from the Ruahine Ranges to the west and the Pacific Coast to the east. It offers many visitor options & activities especially if you want to get off the beaten track. SH2 (State Highway 2) is the main route from Napier/Hastings and runs north to south through to the region.

The main town centres along this route are Waipawa and Waipukurau, the latter being the biggest and the agricultural hub. Here you will find many shops, restaurants, cafe’s, a golf course and even a theatre. Waipawa is a little town where the Tuki Tuki and Waipawa rivers converge – excellent for trout fishing! SH50 (State Highway 50) is an alternative route that begins just south of Takapau on SH2. The region is well known for it’s walking, cycling and fishing activities.

You will also find some wonderfully preserved historical homesteads, many of course offer tours, afternoon teas and accommodation.
